Take a tour

Celosia is a genus of flowering plants that includes several species known for their distinctive, brightly colored, and unique flower heads. There are two common types of Celosia:

1. Cockscomb Celosia (Celosia cristata): These have crested flower heads that resemble the comb of a rooster, hence the name "cockscomb." They come in a variety of colors and are often used in ornamental gardens and floral arrangements.

2. Plume Celosia (Celosia argentea): These have upright, feathery plume-like flower heads. They are also known for their vibrant colors and are often used for landscaping and cut flowers.

Celosia flowers are known for their long-lasting blooms, making them a popular choice for decorative purposes in gardens, floral displays, and events. They come in a range of colors, including red, orange, yellow, and pink, and can add a touch of whimsy and vibrancy to any garden or floral arrangement.

LIFESPAN OF CELOSIA FLOWER

Celosia flowers are typically grown as annuals, especially in regions with distinct seasons. This means they complete their life cycle within one growing season and typically do not survive through the winter. In temperate climates, Celosia plants will usually last for several months, from the time they are planted in the spring until the first frost of the autumn.

However, in some tropical or subtropical regions, Celosia can sometimes behave as short-lived perennials or self-seed, and the plants may persist for more than one growing season if the conditions are favorable. These cases are less common, and Celosia is primarily known and grown as an annual flowering plant in most areas.

Celosia typically requires replanting or seeding in order to enjoy its vibrant blooms each year.
